- Never drink and drive. Denmark has strict alcohol laws and heavy fines, so it’s always better to use public transport or a taxi.

I really like the atmosphere here—it feels warm, social, and welcoming, and the event prices are very reasonable, making it worth every penny.
6. Observe the Night Sky from the Round Tower
Round Tower (Rundetårn) is a unique landmark and is also known as the oldest functioning observatory building in Europe. Built in the 17th century, it was originally designed to observe the night sky, stars, planets and also the smoke of the city.
To reach the top, you walk up a wide spiral ramp that winds around the inside of the tower, followed by a few stairs near the top.
The viewing platform sits at about 34.8 metres above street level. From the top, you’ll get beautiful 360° views of Copenhagen, especially magical in the evening as the city lights start to glow.
The Round Tower is open until 8 PM from April to September.

Once an industrial meat processing area, it has transformed into one of the city’s trendiest neighbourhoods.

One of my favourite things to do in Copenhagen at night is visiting Reffen Street Food, a lively waterfront food market built on a former shipyard using repurposed shipping containers.
With beach chairs, hangout areas, and great views of the harbour, it’s the best place to relax and enjoy the evening. I enjoy watching sunsets over the Copenhagen Canal.

I’ve been to Reffen countless times, and somehow I always end up going back—it still has my heart.
There’s always something happening at Reffen. Free live concerts, DJ sets, workshops, and events regularly take place.
It’s also a very family-friendly place with a playground, pétanque, ping pong tables, and a skatepark. In winter, there’s even an ice skating rink at Reffen.
On Fridays and Saturdays, Reffen stays open until 1 AM, while on other days it usually closes around 10 PM.

Christiansborg Tower (Tårnet) is the highest viewpoint in Copenhagen, at about 106 metres. The entry to the observation deck is completely free, and no booking is required.
You can take the elevator most of the way up, followed by just a few stairs to reach the viewing platform. From the top, you’ll get an incredible panoramic view of Copenhagen at night, with the city lights stretching across rooftops, canals, and historic buildings.
The tower is open until 9 PM from Tuesday to Saturday, while it closes earlier at 5:30 PM on Sundays. It remains closed on Mondays.

Is Copenhagen Safe at Night?
Yes, Copenhagen is generally very safe at night. It has very low crime rates and is considered one of the safest travel destinations globally.
I personally feel comfortable walking around the city after dark. In fact, I’ve walked the streets of Copenhagen alone at night many times and have never felt unsafe.
It’s still a good idea not to carry too many valuables or show expensive items in crowded places. The most common issue here is actually bicycle theft, so if you’re cycling, make sure you lock your bike.
